Can Eggs Fly?

Join us for a free summer workshop with Grimshaw architects. Learn new techniques and get creative at our Clerkenwell studio.

Inspired by London Festival of Architecture’s 2022 theme of 'Act', this fun and engaging workshop will explore how problem-solving and team-building are key to understanding design and engineering challenges, and how creative activities can have a powerful impact on our health and happiness.

How to drop eggs without breaking them (from our 4-metre atrium) will be just one of the challenges explored in this workshop led by a team of Grimshaw architects. We’ll be using a range of materials that you might find at home ― from eggs and spaghetti ― to paperclips, card and drawing tools.

Explore landmark Grimshaw buildings such as the Eden Project, Waterloo Station and ExCeL London as a starting point to immerse yourself in design, drawing and architecture. You’ll be taught techniques by our architects, and the workshop is suitable for all levels ― whether you are passionate about model-making and sketching or have never picked up a pencil before.

Workshop for 12-16 year olds

Date: Saturday, 18 June

Time: 10 am until 1 pm (includes drinks and snacks)

Address: Grimshaw, 57 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5NG

RIBA + Grimshaw Foundation Annual Art Lecture

The 2024 RIBA + Grimshaw Foundation Annual Art Lecture returns, bringing together the interdisciplinary worlds of art and architecture.

This year the lecture will be given by Guyanese-British sculptor Hew Locke, followed by a conversation and questions with writer and curator Ekow Eshun.

The lecture will take place on Thursday 5th December at the RIBA in London.

Launched in 2022 as a collaboration between RIBA and the Grimshaw Foundation, the lecture series supports the aspirations of the two organisations: elevating creativity as an essential skill for the future and creating opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to explore and engage with the worlds of art, design, and architecture.
